Crisis & Recovery in World History Conference Held at 91¶¶Òõ

The 11th Annual Conference of the Midwest World History Association was held September 24-25 at 91¶¶Òõ in Romeoville.

Hosted by the 91¶¶Òõ History Department and College of Humanities, Fine Arts, and Communication, the theme was “Crisis & Recovery in World History.”

In-person and online discussions included “Critical Narratives: Crises in US Native/non-Native Relations,” “Holding Steady through It All: The Middle Ground Journal, Always Online,” and “Retelling Sand Creek: Settler-Colonial Crisis and US Narrative Recovery.”

Presenters included Jeanne Grant and Sarah Pesola of Metropolitan University, Justin Olmstead of the University of Central Oklahoma and Rachel Brown of Marian University-Indianapolis.

Catherine Flinn, author of “Rebuilding Britain Blitzes Cities; Hopeful Dreams, Stark Realities”,  provided the conference keynote address, “Comparing Crisis and Recovery: Post-Second World War to Post-Pandemic.”
